Bucharest Airport Transportation Guide

Whether you're arriving at Otopeni (Henri Coandă - OTP) or Băneasa (Aurel Vlaicu - BBU), there are several ways to get to the city. Here's a quick comparison of your main options:

1. Private Transfer

Not the cheapest option, but one of the safest, most comfortable, and straightforward ways to travel to or from the airport. Ideal for business travelers, tourists, families, and groups. Licensed vehicles, fixed rates, professional drivers, and multiple payment options ensure a smooth ride. Keep in mind that some providers may not be licensed, include hidden fees, or fail to deliver what they advertise. If you want a reliable and worry-free experience, we invite you to book with us. 2. Public Bus (Line 100)

A low-cost option connecting Otopeni and Băneasa airports to central Bucharest. There are 11 stops between Otopeni and the city center, and 6 from Băneasa. The bus follows a straight route from the airport to downtown and does not cover the rest of the city. Card payment is available at onboard terminals. Useful if you're on a tight budget, but it can be crowded, slow, and confusing if you're unfamiliar with the stops. Not ideal in bad weather, with luggage, or during late hours.

3. Train Option

A budget-friendly option available only between Otopeni Airport and Gara de Nord (not centrally located). Trains run every 40 minutes and the journey takes 20–30 minutes. It's cheap and a good choice if you're not in a rush. It’s also convenient if you're planning to take a train to another city or arriving in Bucharest by train and heading to the airport. However, if your final destination is in Bucharest, you’ll still need additional transport between the train station and your final destination. Trains may be delayed and air conditioning isn’t always reliable.

4. Regular Taxis

A door to door option that’s officially more affordable than private transport but not without drawbacks. Some taxis may have limited comfort, such as no air conditioning, signs of smoking, or poorly maintained interiors. Drivers may also not speak English. Be cautious, especially if it’s your first time in Bucharest. Always check the fare per kilometer, make sure the taxi is licensed, and confirm the shortest route to avoid unpleasant surprises.

5. Ride-Sharing Apps

Ride-sharing is a flexible alternative with dynamic pricing. Fares are sometimes low, but can increase significantly during busy hours. This option doesn't include meet & greet or luggage assistance, and the price may change mid-ride. There can also be long wait times for pickup, and drivers may cancel rides without notice. It can be a decent solution if you avoid the cheapest options and are familiar with app-based transport.
